Home Sweet Home!

Well it’s been a busy few days at our house! We got the call on Wednesday that after a day of recovering at the vet after her amputation, Diva was ready to come home! I excitedly sped to the vet after work in record time. I was nervous to see her but as soon aswall whipped out all of my nerves vanished. She was so happy to see us and immediately did the rottie lean onto my leg. She is wrapped in a semi pressure bandage to prevent fluid build up in the socket and protect her incision. She had a fentanyl patch on her paw that came off this morning and grunge grin! They had her muzzled for everyone’s protection since even the sweetest puppy can be grumpyafter such a traumatic surgery. She didn’t cry or whine which is what I was dreading. The vet says her age and fitness level had really made a huge difference in the recovery and will continue to do so.

Getting her in the car was quite a daunting task (before surgery she weighed a muscular 105 lbs) and I was so scared to hurt her. He did great the whole ride home and with the help of a towel sling she peed for the first time when we got home.  That night was sleepless for me worrying but diva passed out almost immediately.  She pooed in the yard for the first time yesterday and now I realize what you all say about celebratory potties! I was so excited!

She is walking without help and at her recheck today she was great! We are waiting for test results to come back and planning her chemotherapy options. Thing are looking up and te whirlwind seems to be calming :-).

Have to get back to work now and rush home to see my girl! Sorry if this was completely disjointed… Lol. See ya!
